HC Charteris Gold & Precious Metals Fund
The Fund seeks to provide capital growth through a diversified portfolio of between 20-50 companies whose core business is involved in the mining, refining, production and marketing of gold and precious metals. The majority of the fund is invested in gold mining companies with a market capitalisation of more than $500m but the manager has the flexibility to invest in mid-cap companies when valuation opportunities arise. The fund does not invest in physical gold.
Who Might The Fund Appeal To?
The gold and precious metals sector provides diversification away from risk, fixed income and equities exposure – and as such is a foundation asset within any long-term savings or investment portfolio. Gold has long been viewed as a safe haven against uncertain stock markets and rising inflation but the fund is categorised as higher risk and performance can be volatile.
